Our History

Our Silesian Roots

The story of the Dierschke family begins in Silesia, a historic region of Central Europe that was part of the Kingdom of Prussia during the nineteenth century.

Joseph Franz Dierschke and Pauline Seidel lived during a period of significant political, economic, and social change. Like many European families of their generation, they eventually sought a new life across the Atlantic.

Family records associate the Dierschkes with Endersdorf, a community in Silesia whose precise historical location remains an important part of our genealogical research.

In 1867, Joseph and Pauline made the journey to Texas, establishing the foundation for generations of Dierschke descendants in America.

The Journey to Texas

In 1867, Joseph Franz Dierschke and his wife, Pauline Seidel, left their homeland in Silesia to begin a new chapter in Texas.

Family immigration research identifies their vessel as the Diana, a Bremen bark commanded by Captain Seigener and associated with M. Ranger & Co. The family is believed to have arrived in November 1867.

The voyage represented a major turning point in the family’s history. Leaving behind their familiar surroundings, Joseph and Pauline crossed the Atlantic with hopes of establishing a new life for themselves and their children.

The original passenger manifest remains an important subject of our ongoing research. Immigration records may contain alternate spellings of the Dierschke surname, including Dierochke.

Their journey marked the beginning of the Dierschke family’s American story, which would become deeply connected with the communities of Central Texas.

A New Life in Texas

After arriving in Texas in 1867, Joseph Franz Dierschke and Pauline Seidel began building a new life in a region that would become closely associated with generations of their descendants.

The family established roots in the Moulton area of Lavaca County, Texas, where German-speaking immigrant communities helped preserve many of the traditions, customs, and cultural connections families had brought from Europe.

Life in rural Texas presented new opportunities and considerable challenges. Families worked to establish homes, support themselves, raise children, and build lasting relationships within their communities.

Over time, the Dierschke family became part of the history of the Moulton area. Their descendants would establish families of their own, carrying the Dierschke name and heritage into new generations and communities throughout Texas and beyond.

Today, the family’s history reflects both its European origins and the generations who helped establish its American roots.

The Generations That Followed

The legacy of Joseph Franz Dierschke and Pauline Seidel continued through their children, grandchildren, and succeeding generations, whose lives became woven into the history of Texas and communities beyond.

Among their descendants was Joseph Alexander Dierschke, whose family forms the central focus of this website. Through his family branches and the generations that followed, the Dierschke story continued to grow.

Our family genealogy preserves these connections through a numbering system that identifies each descendant’s place within the family tree. This allows family members to trace their ancestry, understand relationships, and discover how their individual stories connect to earlier generations.

The Dierschke family history is more than a collection of names and dates. It is a record of families, traditions, challenges, accomplishments, and memories passed from one generation to the next.

Through historical documents, photographs, family stories, and contributions from descendants, we hope to preserve this heritage and make it accessible to future generations.
